At Hometown Manufacturing, we love seeing our trolleys go beyond traditional transportation, and the Tri-Tip Trolley is a perfect example. Back in 2016, we built a fully customized trolley shell for TIPS Tri-Tip in Glen Ellen, California, setting the stage for what would become a one-of-a-kind food truck trolley. Now, years later, this trolley is still rolling and serving up smoky, wood-fired flavors.
Tri-Tip had a vision to take their passion for slow-smoked tri-tip, brisket, and pulled pork and serve it in a way that was as unique as their menu. Instead of going with a standard food truck, they wanted something memorable and eye-catching. Situations like this are where our customization options shine. Custom features that made this work include:
✔ Fold-Out Awning & Service Window – Making it easy to take orders and serve customers on the go.
✔ Spacious Interior Design – Built to house all the kitchen essentials like smokers and prep stations.
✔ Classic Trolley Aesthetic – Keeping the charm of a trolley while still functioning as a full-scale food truck.
Years after it first hit the road, the Tri-Tip Trolley is still going strong. Because of our small team of skilled builders, we’re able to really take our client’s needs and include these customizations vs what larger companies that just mass produce. If you’ve got an idea for a custom trolley build, whether for transit, tourism, or something completely outside the box, we’re here to make it happen.
